ITALIAN & HISTORY CREDIT COURSES IN ITALY

Dear Parents and Student:

The Toronto Catholic District School Board and the York Catholic District School Board with the Centre for Italian Culture and Education are offering you a unique experience to learn Italian in an immersion situation in Italy, while gaining a credit toward your Ontario Secondary School Diploma. With the privilege of taking part in this exciting learning opportunity come certain responsibilities and a set of expected behaviours.

Respect for Self:

• Students will be encouraged to develop self-esteem and a sense of pride in achievement and appearance.
• Students are expected to show common sense and moderation with respect to personal grooming and clothing.
• Student use of any illicit non-prescription drugs is prohibited as regulated by Canadian and Italian law and TCDSB & YCDSB policies.
• Student consumption of alcohol is prohibited as per TCDSB and YCDSB policies.
• Student use of tobacco products is not permitted on school property, in student lodgings, nor on any school outing.
• Students are not permitted to accept rides or board any private traveling vehicle.

Respect for Others:

• Students will be courteous and considerate of all members who make up this travel experience: fellow students, teachers, chaperons, waiters, attendants, etc.
• Language should reflect the respect we have for each other and for ourselves. Inappropriate language (vulgar, blasphemous) is offensive and socially unacceptable, and presents a poor image to others.
• Students will not bring on the trip any object (e.g. knife, needles, pellet gun, lighters, matches, etc.) that may be considered injurious to others.

Respect for Authority:

• Students will comply with the rules of this educational excursion and with the expectations of staff.

Respect for Property:

• Students will treat school property, hotel rooms, historical sites, buses, and any other host location with respect and assist in maintaining tidiness. Any damages caused by a student will be at the student’s expense.

Preperation for Class:

• Students will be prepared for each class with books, appropriate materials, and completed assignments.
• Students must study and write all tests and exams.

Punctuality:

• Students will be on time for all classes, and excursions.

Regular Attendance:

• Students will attend all classes regularly.
• Students will attend Sunday mass and any other specified liturgical celebration.

Any infraction of school and board policies will be subject to disciplinary action by the school administrators and may result in the student being sent back to Canada at the expense of the parents or guardians.

We have read and fully understand the above expectations and agree to abide by them completely.
